Choo choo!

Introduction
At first look Trainz may sound like a stupid kid game made by some unknown company trying to make it big. Well the last part is right, the game is incredible, to say the least. The game really doesn’t have a lot of sounds, but who cares, the game is incredibly realistic.

If only the game had better audio, this would be a high rating game, but even without it, it is still on top. The graphics are detailed to the last nut and bolt, the game play is unbelievable, ultra realistic.


Graphics (9/10)
The graphics in this game are unreal. They are so damn nice, almost everything looks realistic. The way the fog dithers the view so perfectly, the terrain on the hills and mountains, even the water.

The trains especially look the best, my god what detail. There is a bit of a change in detail from the look outside the level, to when you go into the map and play, but they still look damn nice.

The map editor is awesome, it is so easy to use but at the same time it is extremely powerful. At first it may look confusing but playing with it you realize how easy it is, I learned how to use it in less than 15 minutes. You can put anything anywhere, and the maps are huge! While you are making the map you can really see the detail of everything, from houses to trees to power lines. Simply amazing.

Pretty much everything about the graphics is perfect, you really have to see the game to understand, words simply can not explain.

Audio (2/10)
There isn’t a lot of audio in this game, just the simple horn and engine sound, no music. This section brings the rating down, but it’s ok, the game still rocks without music and sounds.

Gameplay (10/10)
If you ever had that need to play with trains when you were a kid, but didn’t have the money to spend on all that expensive equipment, well now is your time to play. This game is exactly that, no moving money around, no dealing with competitors, just playing with trains. It’s more fun than it sounds.

At first the game looks empty and stupid, or at least that’s what I thought when I first played it. Then I finally realized that the true treasure lies deep within this wonderful game. As simple as the game sounds, it is quite enjoyable.

You start off with 3 pre-built tracks, which gives you the need for more! You can select the trains you want to drive, and there are a shit load of them. Once you start playing one realizes the quality of this game.

The incredible realism really grabs you, and holds you there until you run off your track; even then it’ll keep you begging for more!

The simple controls are perfect for that kid in your family as well as the adult. There really isn’t anything hard about this game, it’s all about having fun. Even the map editor is easy to learn, there are so many options, so many things to place.

Concluding Thoughts (15/20)

To finish off this great game all I have to say is, it truly is incredible.

Buy it or not?

No, I mean yes.

NOTE: I have a 1.4ghz AMD + geforce2 MX + 384meg DDR Ram. With the graphics options set pretty high it ran some what laggy, just a note to those with low-end computers, you may not get the full experience. Enjoy.
